I am in New York, NY, but I am a very proud Maine native! I remember the first issue I saw was the cover with blueberry muffins and a very white background, just my aesthetic! I fell in love. I miss Maine dearly and hope to head back some day not too far from now. I think the magazine is GREAT, a beautiful way of showcasing the state. It sure paints magic on Maine.

I spent my summers on Sebago Lake as a kid, and my family still owns the cottage today. I’ve always thought of Maine as my “second home” and was in Portland for the weekend a couple of weeks ago (spearheaded by a Chronicle TV show highlighting Portland & things to do in the winter). When my partner & I were in Portland, we came across your magazine at Paciarino Restaurant and again at Soakology. I already subscribe to DownEast and enjoy it, but thought your magazine was much more “today” and looked at Maine from a different angle.

We noticed our friends, Sandy Lang and Frank Edwards, writer and photographer were published recently and we can’t wait to see more of their pieces.

I grew up in Maine and have a close connection with the state. I went to school in Vermont, and I am still here. Most people think that New England is a monotony of one and the same. You would assume that moving from small town Maine to small town Vermont would not be a change for me. However, over the years, I have come to find that each New England state is so unique. My personal sense of place feels best in Maine. Now, living in Vermont, where many New Jersey and NY, NY residents have second homes, I have caught on to a new trend. It looks like Maine is gaining in its popularity - Portland is becoming a foodie town, and the Maine scenery is becoming the ultimate sign of relaxation. I am seeing many a flat-landers reading your magazine, and I am interested to check it out for myself. I am contemplating moving back to the wonderful state of Maine, and I thought this magazine would give me the enthusiasm to make the move. Again, I look forward to my first issue - I feel as if I will not be disappointed. I hope that you will keep up the good work, and ensure that Maine will be viewed in the beautiful light that it deserves.

Your March, 2011 article "Oyster Drive" by Sandy Lang was one of the best written articles I've read in a long, long time. A link was posted on Facebook by a friend who lives up your way half of each year. The author did such a beautiful job I could picture myself being there. I could see all of the places, feel the weather, picture the people, and, above all, I could taste the cold water oysters. I will keep a copy and re-read it many times. If I could I would get my 71 year old arthritic body back to Maine in a flash. Oh. well. Long way from North Carolina. Kudos to Sandy Lang. What joy this story brought me. Thanks.

Albuquerque is far far away from Maine but my heart is there, in the form of my son, his wife and my grandson, so I am interested in finding out more about Maine, particularly some cultural aspects, because I am considering relocating to be closer. They are in Old Town, ME. New Mexico has a very diverse and rich cultural environment which I enjoy - arts, music, festivals and events like that all the time. I am just curious what I would find if I spent more time in Maine.

Maine is an awesome state in general but I really love coastal Maine. I’m trying to figure out how I can move and still support my family – a work in progress. In the meantime I’m living vicariously through your magazine. I should also say that the magazine really appeals to me on a design/aesthetic level too. I don’t think that there is a Massachusetts magazine that is quite as good.

I am in Philadelphia but daydreaming about my cabin near Belfast. I like reading Maine whenever I get a chance to get up there, the photography does have something special about it. I also enjoy the personal stories, like the guy with the odd toy shop. I like to see how people are making a living, aside from opening gastro-pubs, although I admit I like food stories too. Keep up the good work!

My wife and I frequently buy your magazine when we see it for sale. We both very much enjoy what the magazine has to offer and believe it sheds a positive light on the state of Maine. I can't remember where we were the first time we bought the magazine. I know we bought it because it caught our eye (the photography can be quite alluring). As far as content, I know I am quite satisfied with what the magazine has to offer. I think I could say the same for my wife. We both very much enjoy reading about the local restaurants and bars. We have places we frequent but we also try to visit new places whenever we can. Your pieces on local musicians are also quite intriguing to us.

I came to find out about Maine magazine when I went on a trip last year to Maine. I was there for about a week: spending a weekend rafting on the Kennebec River and then driving back down and stopping in Brunswick, Freeport and then spending another three days in Portland and Peaks Island. My aunt and uncle, who have a house on Peaks, gave me a couple of issues and I devoured them. I am a writer myself and also work full-time for Manhattan Theatre Club, a non-profit theatre company in New York City. I have familiarized myself well with non-profit arts administration and coincidentally the first issue I read featured Andy Graham and his mission to make Portland a haven for artists. I was truly inspired, and have been remiss to get a subscription until now.

I am interested in property on Kezar Lake and found a link to your magazine from their website.

Over the last several months I have seen the magazine in a number of places, my Doctors office, restaurant waiting areas, the laundry mat. I always found some article of interest and determined this was a magazine worth investing in!

I grew up in Bethel, ME and lived in Scarborough for six years before moving to New York City. Last time I was up I picked up one of your magazines and loved it. I make trips often back to the state and am looking forward to checking out new restaurants and such from the magazine. I also love the website. It is very user friendly and basic, which is nice to see once in a while. Great Job with the magazine and thanks for the nice email. It's nice and seldom seen to receive a personal email from a business.

Our son, Will, went to Kents Hill outside of Augusta. We met so many fun people during our visits while staying at The Senator which became our home away from home for three years. As we think about places we'd like to re-visit or possibly retire, the Portland area always comes to mind. So, Maine will help us stay in touch with your beautiful state. I have lots of old family ties to the east coast area and have been a subscriber to Yankee for many years. I think that's how I found Maine magazine? Or, maybe a like- minded friend told me about your magazine. I look forward to April for lots of reasons on this zero degree day in Chicago and can't wait to receive my new subscription.

I have traveled to Maine four times, and even tried to move to Portland a few years back. Although, I live and teach 5th grade in Colorado--I travel to the east coast every summer to teach and research. I believe my book is in several school districts in Maine. I think a magazine subscription will keep me wanting to come back, again and again. Looking forward to my first issue.

I was in the Beltone hearing aid store in Rockport, Maine and they had three little magazines, about 3" x 5", on three different subjects. The one on eating places was of special interest to me. I would love to have one if you would be willing to send me one. I saw the magazine and read some of it while waiting in the lobby. I decided then and there that I would have to subscribe. So I did.

Will Bleakley's article on the Maine Winter Sports Center and the two 2011 World Cup events in the County was the best I've ever read on both subjects. He described the strange, difficult, incredible sport of biathlon very well. He also captured how MWSC has impacted the local community, and vice versa. One quibble: he lists Fort Kent and Presque Isle as "two major centers in Aroostook". While they certainly deserve being described as such, a complete list would also include Houlton (the county seat), and Caribou (which is proud to be the home base of the Maine Winter Sports Center, among other things). I personally would also include Allagash and Oxbow....but that's just me!
