Cruisin’ for a Cure

Cruisin’ for a Cure is a new motorcycle ride to support the American Cancer Society’s fight against pediatric cancer. On Saturday, Sept. 19, registration will start at 9 a.m. at L-A Harley-Davidson in Lewiston. Trail to Prevail Virtual 10k

Design your own 10K route on the trails and walk, run, bike, or roll to raise funds for Portland Trails while celebrating our resilient community! Whether you’ll be in another state or just across town, you’re invited to participate on your favorite trails any time between September 20th and 26th. All ages and abilities are welcome! Every participant will receive a free Trail to Prevail buff, and anyone who fundraises or donates $100 or above will also receive a free Trail to Prevail t-shirt.

Maine Development Foundation: Engaging in the Economic Recovery Plan

Panel discussion with key members of the Governor’s Economic Recovery Committee on the Committee’s recommendations, implementation and ways MDF leadership alumni can engage in meaningful ways. The discussion will be followed by action-oriented breakout room sessions on how to engage in key sectors including Hospitality, Education & Workforce, Infrastructure, Innovation, Healthcare/Nonprofits/Childcare & Support Services, and Manufacturing & Natural Resource-Based Industries.

Masters & Apprentices: Work from Maine’s 2020 Craft Apprentice Program

The Maine Craft Association’s Craft Apprentice Program, developed and offered in partnership with the Maine Arts Commission, provides Maine-based master craft artists and apprentices the opportunity to learn, create and connect. New work created during the apprenticeship period is on view in the windows of Maine Craft Portland (521 Congress Street, Portland) from October 16 – November 15, 2020. The Exhibition can be viewed from inside or outside, day or night!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

COVID-19 is putting a lot at risk right now, including the fight against breast cancer. But, this fight can’t be cancelled or postponed. With a covid compliant structure, meeting across 6 satellite sites and virtually, GrowSmart will be discussing “smart growth” in Maine, and how to adapt the New England tradition of Home Rule for the coming decades.

Maine Development Foundation: OK Boomer/Back Off Zoomer and Everyone in Between–Best Practices for Leading Across Generations.

Panel discussion on grappling with a workforce that spans four generations: Baby Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y (Millennials), and Gen Z. What are the best practices for understanding differing mindsets, work styles, and communication styles of workers born in different eras so your team functions well as a unit? We will hear from leaders doing this work every day, and offer workshop-style training during breakout sessions that you can apply in your organization.

New Year, New Works | Commissioned Maine Artist Previews (Online Event)

Join Portland Ovations the week of January 11-15, 2021, every day at noon as it hosts an exciting week-long series to kick off its new program of commissioning Maine artists. New Year, New Works is a series of five virtual, 30-minute, meet the artist style events. Each day you will meet a different Maine artist and learn about their project. Register one time for FREE and attend as many artist previews as you like.
