For 89 years, Ogunquit Playhouse has been the crown jewel of Maine’s Southern seacoast, self-producing world-class Regional theatre and arts education programs, creating memories for generations. It’s the reason theatre lovers and vacationers from around the world return to Ogunquit year after year!
Our 2021 Outdoor Season in The Leary Pavilion will be one for the record books. Under the canopy of a brand new 25,000 square foot, socially distanced, open-air Pavilion, it’s the biggest backyard bash in Seacoast history and you’re invited! We’ll be serving up a boisterous buffet of comedy, music, and romance, from cheeseburgers in paradise to mystic pizza, there is something on the menu for everyone’s tastes!
The Season opens June 16 with the comedic brilliance of the mighty Pythons and their hysterically inaccurate retelling of King Arthur’s quest for the Holy Grail. Eric Idle has adapted SPAMALOT to streamline the music and laughter for a COVID-friendly environment. And we won’t even require you to bring a shrubbery!
Our Summer backyard bash shifts into cruise control during July and August with the Regional premiere of ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE. We’re kicking off our flip flops and wasting away with this 90-minute no intermission journey through the ocean-inspired music of Jimmy Buffett.
September finds The Leary Pavilion stage transformed into a quaint New England seacoast village for the World Premiere of MYSTIC PIZZA, the beloved 1980s MGM romantic comedy. Three girlfriends navigating life, love, and coming-of-age in a working class seaside pizza joint. These girls just wanna have fun and this show is simply irresistible!
The curtain comes down on our Pavilion stage in October by puttin’ on the glitz as Transylvania mania overtakes Ogunquit for Halloween. Mel Brooks and Susan Stroman’s frighteningly hilarious YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is an abby-normal experience guaranteed to roll your troubles away. Sweet mystery of life this is gonna be a blast!
