Master Nan Lu. Nan Lu, OMD, is the founding director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation and its sister organization, the Tao of Healing. Dr. Lu holds a doctorate from Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medcine, Hubei, China, and is a New York State-licensed acupuncturist. Classically and university-trained, Dr. Lu is a master herbalist as well as an internationally recognized Taiji expert and Qigong master and the best-selling author of three TCM books published by Harper Collins.

Possessing a gift of cross-cultural communication, Dr. Lu lectures internationally and frequently partners with doctors of Western medicine using a preventive and complementary approach. His specialties include women’s health, cancer and immune system disorders and stress management.

Dr. Robert D. Ecker, a fellowship trained endovascular neurosurgeon, is the newest member of the Maine Medical Partners Neurosurgery & Spine team, specializing in treating brain aneurysm and stroke patients, as well as general neurosurgery. He is currently the only sub-specialist of his kind in the state of Maine, and his unique ability to perform complex procedures in the brain allows Maine Medical Center to care for brain aneurysm and stroke patients in a whole new way. Many patients now will not have to travel to Boston to receive the treatment they need.

Dr. Ecker, featured in the April 2012 wellness issue of Maine Magazine came to MMC from the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland. He performed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and his endovascular fellowship at the University at Buffalo,New York. When he isn’t caring for patients or conducting clinical research, Dr. Ecker enjoys cycling, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and children.
