Stephen Schwartz

Stephen Schwartz is a highly successful attorney. A former prosecutor, he has been practicing law for 28 years. He practices in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, and wills and probate law. He was the Criminal Law Section chair of the Maine State Bar Association and in 1992, he was the founding president of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, an organization that now has close to 300 members, and has the respect of the bench and bar; the organization is called upon regularly by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) to write amicus briefs and for input in other matters of importance. Steve was also the founder and first editor of its magazine, Maine Defender. He is a graduate of the University of Maine and the Santa Clara University School of Law. He is AV rated, the highest possible peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell, and he has been listed by a vote of his peers in Best Lawyers in America from 2011 through 2013. In his spare time, he broadcasts high school sporting events for television and co-hosts Law on the Line, a monthly television show on CTN Channel 5 in Southern Maine.
