Rob Whitten was born and raised outside of Boston, but he moved to Portland way back in 1976, where he founded Whitten Architects, a five person office, ten years later. They specialize in the design of custom homes and vacation houses through out Maine, though they have built houses everywhere from Martha’s Vineyard to Nova Scotia. Since 1991 Whitten Architects has received four Maine AIA awards for design excellence and in 2011, one of their homes received LEED Gold certification. When he’s not working, Rob enjoys traveling, drawing, sailing, and gardening. He resides in Munjoy Hill with his wife, and their gardens are a work in progress.
