Knowing Megan always greets their adored bulldog when first walking though the door, Nick tied the Stonehome Estate engagement ring to Holly’s collar. Megan, fully surprised, said yes, and a few months later they were married on Broadturn Farm against a colorful backdrop of August blooms. It was a serene, quaint location where they and 110 loved ones gathered, clad in their best “country elegance.” Guests indulged in the gourmet buffet-style dinner that included a raw seafood bar, lobster rolls, and fruits and veggies from local farms. From the fire pit and s’mores station to the natural earth tones and barn setting, their easy approach and appreciation of Maine was apparent throughout.

“OUR WEDDING FOCUSED ON THE THINGS WE LOVE MOST: EACH OTHER, FAMILY AND FRIENDS, A RELAXING, FUN ATMOSPHERE, AMAZING FOOD AND DRINKS, AND MAINE.”

Why…
that dress?

Megan wore her aunt’s wedding dress and veil. Both fit flawlessly after she had some alterations done by Maria Antonieta Couture—the veil had been ripped years prior when her aunt’s dog ran down the aisle.

Wavelength?
The couple insisted on a live band. They were impressed with Wavelength’s professionalism and ability to play a wide range of styles during different stages of their wedding.

Paula Cano?
“She was there making sure the bride and mother of the bride got exactly what they wanted. It showed in every detail that day; everything was perfect,” says Nick. “Hiring Paula was the best decision we made.”

that specific date?
August 18 was Megan’s late brother’s birthday, and she wanted to celebrate him with happy memories. When they looked at Broadturn, that date was already taken. As fate would have it, the couple got a call the next day that the previous couple had to cancel.

Maine?
Megan is a Machias native and her father has been a commercial fisherman for years. Nick moved here for a job in 2004 from upstate New York. They love calling Portland home.
