Annie + Kenny, Brunswick

Kenny lived in the same building as some of Annie’s friends, and whenever Annie visited them, she’d bump into Kenny. “After months of run-ins, we started hanging out together, and quickly grew close over shared interests,” says Annie. Fast-forward through a few ice cream, movie, and dinner dates and it was official. While sitting on the pier on Mackworth Island Kenny gave Annie a card with all of the reasons he wanted to marry her. Later Kenny told Annie, the card was really a backup. He had hidden the original in the rocks on the island, but on their walk saw that other walkers had found it and were reading it. When they retrieved the card, the readers had written their number on the card wanting to know the outcome. “Yes, we did text them.” They were married at the First Parish Church in Brunswick and hosted the reception at Kenny’s parents’ home in Brunswick.

“We wanted our wedding to be very personal, outrageously fun, and utterly unique and memorable,” says Annie.

THE THEME: Annie and Kenny asked guests to wear whimsical cocktail attire. “A couple of our guests really nailed it, with ladies wearing fascinators and lace gloves, and the men sporting bowties, hipster glasses, and seersucker suits,” says Annie.

GAMES: The outdoor wedding also had lawn games—giant Jenga, giant Scrabble, bocce, and croquet—as well as a photo booth with props such as a tiny violin and deer antlers.

THE CEREMONY: Their ceremony was held at First Parish Church in Brunswick. “As soon as we took a look inside, we knew we had to have it there. The breathtaking architecture and old-fashioned charm brought the perfect amount of gravity to our ceremony.”

DESSERTS: A family friend flew in from Hawaii two weeks before the wedding to create all the desserts. She baked multiple carrot cakes, flan, cake pops, lemon tarts, biscotti, and more.
