Wendell Gilley Museum Birds in Art Exhibition

Birds in Art features work by sixty different contemporary artists, who offer their unique interpretations of the avian world in a variety of media.

The 2020 show (being shown at the Gilley summer 2021) is the 45th iteration of Birds in Art, an international exhibition organized by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin that travels to just a few select venues each year. This is the third visit of Birds in Art to the Gilley, and the show features sixty contemporary artists, including Andrea Rich and Don Rambadt – both of whom have been featured in their own exhibitions at the Gilley – and talented Maine artist Sherrie York. Other artists, spanning a wide variety of media and styles, include Don Rambadt, Jett Brunet, James Coe, Terry Miller, Barry van Dusen and Alan Woollett. Look to the Wendell Gilley website for a variety of great programs that explore Birds in Art.

  • Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • More Information: Website

The healthcare landscape in Maine and across the nation has undergone dramatic change in the past several decades, and change continues unabated. Join MDF’s panel of healthcare experts and practitioners as we examine the current healthcare ecosystem in Maine, and explore innovative approaches to funding, delivery, and development of a more diversified healthcare workforce. Specifically, we’ll look closely at: innovations and disruptions occurring in healthcare that will fundamentally change how healthcare is delivered and paid for; the current and projected impact of Community Health workers, an emerging peer workforce, on healthcare delivery in Maine; addressing the barriers to work faced by foreign trained health professionals and the role they can play in creating a diverse and culturally competent workforce. Participants will hear from Judiann Ferretti Smith, Hanley Center; Peter Hayes, Healthcare Purchaser Alliance of Maine; Ben Hummel, Maine Mobile Health Program, and Sally Sutton, New Mainers Resource Center, Portland Adult Education. Part of our Innovating for Economic Growth Series.
