Sugarloaf Trails

01 Gondola Line
Head up Skyline lift and test your skills against Upper Gondola “Gondi” Line, a challenging trail that promises a straight, steep slope. For more intermediate skiers, follow the trail to Lower Gondi Line or cut in at Mid Station X-Cut. The former route of the old gondola that ran for almost 30 years, Gondi Line has been a longtime favorite for many devoted skiers.

02 White Nitro
Not for the faint of heart, White Nitro is one of Sugarloaf ’s steepest trails, connecting Old Winter’s Way with Spillway X-Cut. While contemplating the incredible angle of this double black diamond trail, be sure to take in the stunning 180-degree views of the surrounding valley and Bigelow Mountain Range.

03 Moose Alley
Perhaps the most enjoyable trail at Sugarloaf, this kid-friendly run is a haven filled with hidden bridges and glades. Grab the kiddos and be on the lookout for Sugarloaf ’s unofficial mascot, Amos the Moose. If you miss him on the trail, check out his log cabin home by the entrance of Moose Alley.

04 ToteRoad
Just off the SuperQuad lift, Tote Road is the longest trail at Sugarloaf, spanning three and a half miles from summit to base. This intermediate, family-friendly trail is perfect for cruising, but offers just enough challenge to keep your run interesting. Be wary of the infamous Chicken Pitch section, the steepest downhill of the trail, which often sneaks up on unassuming skiers at the end of the run.

05 Misery Whip
A logging term, misery whip refers to a crosscutting saw used to chop wood. At Sugarloaf, however, Misery Whip is an old- timers trail and former T-bar line that lives up to its raw and poignant name. A narrow chute that is scattered with moguls and usually left ungroomed, this trail came by its name honestly.

06 Horseshoe
Way out toward West Mountain, this hard-to-find trail is most easily accessed from Bullwinkle’s Grill off the SuperQuad lift. A hidden gem, this easy terrain is utilized by families and advanced skiers alike. On warm days, you may even find Sugarloafers relaxing on the picnic tables secluded in the trees directly off the trail.

07 Golden Road
Pop off your skis and climb uphill on this connecting ridge between Sugarloaf and the new Burnt Mountain. Die-hards praise this trail for its access to challenging and unkempt glades. If you are among the most ambitious outdoorsmen and women, take the King Pine lift up for some serious backcountry skiing.

08 Timberline
If you want to take in the striking panorama from the top of the mountain without facing expert terrain, opt for the Timberline trail that begins at the summit. This beginners trail promises stellar views and well-groomed trails from top to bottom. Bullwinkle’s, Sugarloaf ’s on-mountain restaurant, sits at the bottom of the run, so be sure to stop by for hot chocolate or a beer.

09 Androscoggin
Over 68 acres of glade skiing make up the newly opened Androscoggin trail. The freshly cut terrain is a part of Sugarloaf ’s new Burnt Mountain, a backcountry skiing area that opened in 2014. If you’re looking to work for your run, hike up to Androscoggin and reward yourself with fresh powder and unexplored terrain.
